One of Europe’s most wanted drugs traffickers has been shot dead by hitmen in an underground car park in Mexico City.
Dutch criminal Marco Ebben had been on the run for years after fleeing from the Netherlands where he was facing a seven year prison sentence for cocaine trafficking.
The 32-year-old had been convicted of smuggling 400 kilos of cocaine from Brazil to the Netherlands, hidden in a consignment of pineapples in 2019.
After fleeing the Netherlands, he had originally lived in Dubai before moving to Mexico where he became involved with a faction of the Sinaloa Cartel.
According to reports in Mexico, Ebben was shot by two gunmen on Thursday afternoon as he walked to his armoured SUV in Atizapán, an area in the northwest of Mexico City.
