A significant amount of hashish has been seized by the Border Police services in Korça, in collaboration with the Narcotics Investigation Section of this directorate, which was being trafficked by land towards Greece.
Officers patrolling the border with Greece over the villages of Vidohovë and Ponçarë in Devoll, between pyramids 43 and 44, observed two citizens in the distance carrying two bags suspected of containing narcotics.
Immediately, the Border Police services began pursuing them and notified the services of the Korça Local Police Directorate.
The two citizens who were transporting the drugs, when they saw the police officers, abandoned their handbags and fled deep into the border, where the Greek Border Police services were also notified.
From examining the bags, the investigation team determined that inside them there were 20 packages filled with narcotics with a total weight of 32.3 kilograms.
The Narcotics Investigation Section of the Korça Police Department, in cooperation with the Korça Local Border and Migration Directorate, have made it possible to identify one of the suspects who was transporting the narcotics, but for investigation reasons, his general information is not being disclosed.
Work continues to identify the other perpetrator and other persons involved in this attempted drug trafficking. The procedural materials were passed on to the Prosecutor’s Office for further action.
