Connecticut’s adult-use cannabis sales reached $17.6 million in November, the second-highest monthly total since the state’s recreational market launched in January 2023, according to data from the Department of Consumer Protection. Medical marijuana sales totaled $6.7 million for the month.

The November figures represent the second consecutive month of growth in the state’s adult-use cannabis market, with sales increasing from $17.1 million in October. The total number of recreational cannabis products sold also rose month-over-month, climbing to approximately 465,000 units in November from 398,000 in October.

While sales are rising, cannabis prices in Connecticut have trended lower in recent months. The average price per gram, which includes both the adult-use and medical markets, fell to $10.86 in November, down from $11.36 in the prior month and a peak of $12.51 reached in March.

Flower continues to dominate sales, accounting for 49% of total dollar sales from January through November of this year, the DCP data show. Vape cartridges represented the second largest product category.

Despite the positive move, a report from the Connecticut Inside Investigator pointed out that Connecticut’s adult-use sales significantly trail those of neighboring Massachusetts, a more established recreational market that could grow even more with the addition of future consumption lounges.

In November, Massachusetts cannabis retailers sold $137 million worth of adult-use products, down from a record $147.6 million in September, according to the state’s Cannabis Control Commission. Massachusetts’ adult-use prices are also markedly lower, with a gram of flower selling for an average of just $4.58 last month.

The outlet also mentioned that Rhode Island’s nascent adult-use market to the south saw retailers sell $8.15 million in recreational cannabis products in November, its 11th month of sales, per the state’s Department of Business Regulation.
