A tip-off prompted the NT Police to stop a vehicle at Cahill’s Crossing, suspected of trafficking drugs and alcohol into Arnhem Land, resulting in the arrest of a 31-year-old man on November 10.
The NT Drug and Organised Crime Division has since charged the alleged offender with supplying commercial quantities of cannabis.
In a statement, police reported they received information indicating a Mitsubishi Pajero loaded with illegal drugs was making its way to West Arnhem Land after visiting the rural regions of Darwin.
Officers in Gunbalanya stopped the vehicle at Cahills Crossing and executed a search warrant.
During the search, police discovered six pounds of cannabis, two 700ml bottles of spirits, and 2,000 empty clip-seal bags.
The vehicle was confiscated, and the driver faced several drug-related charges, including supplying a commercial quantity of a Schedule 2 drug and illegally bringing alcohol into a restricted area.
