California’s Unified Cannabis Enforcement Taskforce has seized 2,652 illegally grown cannabis plants and “multiple bag” of illegal pesticides. This was announced by Governor Brown on Monday.
The full story is below the jump.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom, a Democrat, announced on Monday that the Unified Cannabis Enforcement Taskforce of California (UCETF), which is part of the state government’s Unified Cannabis Enforcement Taskforce, had seized illegally cultivated marijuana worth more than $2.3 Million. This included 2,652 plants seized in one operation and “multiple bags” (or multiple bags) of illegal pesticides.
“Illegal cannabis outside of the safe, regulated markets poses serious health risks. It fuels criminal groups responsible for devastating environmental damages.” I thank our state, local and federal enforcement agencies for their cooperation in taking down this illicit enterprise. They have protected both public safety and environmental damage from the harmful effects of the illicit cannabis markets. Statement
UCETF seized 2,652 cannabis plants and nearly 117 pounds processed cannabis flower that were being cultivated in a building industrial, as well as several containers of harmful insecticides. One person was arrested on charges of unlicensed cultivation, unlicensed possession for sale of cannabis, maintaining a drughouse, and possession unregistered pesticides.
Ken Everett, Deputy Director of Enforcement at the Department of Pesticide Regulation, said in a statement that “it is crucial that any pesticides used on cannabis are registered and that all laws and regulations be followed.”
He said that “enforcing these laws will protect people and the environment against potential risks and impacts of pesticide use.”
According to the Governor’s Office UCETF has, since its founding, seized more than $465 million worth of unlicensed marijuana by serving 309 warrants. The task force has also wiped out 470,435 illegal marijuana plants, seized illegal firearms and arrested 38 people.
