The Farm Bill of 2018, which was passed in 2018, legalized the cultivation of hemp and the sale of hemp-based products. These include fabric, rope and plastic alternatives. This has the benefit of being half the potency of marijuana’s delta-9THC while being unregulated by the government. There was no reason to regulate delta-8 THC before, as it is only one of over 100 cannabinoid components naturally found in marijuana. It also exists in such small amounts that it could have been ignored.

Delta-8 was available in more than 90% of the gas stations and head shops in the United States by the time other states became aware of it. It is also easily accessible on the Internet in the form of products that can be consumed, smoked, vaporized, or vaped. Governor Gavin Newsom, out of concern that regulating delta-8 would prevent its “lifesaving medical use”, proposed emergency regulations to prevent the sale to anyone under 21.

Who are these people who blatantly hawk hemp products to children (i.e. delta-8 THC? What are they thinking about?
