Yesterday, the Cannabis Control Commission issued an important update to applicants whose provisional licences have expired because they did not pay the required fee as per 935 CMR 500.3(1)(e).

The CCC released a statement on July 30, 2024. Bulletin Notifying applicants that those who receive provisional approval but do not pay the license fee within 90 day would receive a notice of expiration of provisional approval. I contacted Commissioner Nurys Camargo to discuss the issue after the bulletin was sent out. You can also read about the issue here Its potential implications for 120 applicants who received this notice up to now. She investigated the issue, spoke with others in the industry, and within the Commission to find a solution. This was demonstrated clearly during the public meeting held on September 12, 2024. The Commission discussed the issue further and began a process for identifying next steps. This is a good example of how the process works.

The CCC’s purpose Updated on September 29, 2009 On September 23, 2024 we will determine how many applicants are interested in paying to extend their provisional approval until the next CCC public meeting on October 10th, where a vote is expected. It is important that you respond if you are in this situation.

You must email Licensing@CCCMass.com By 5 p.m. Thursday, October 3, 2020Please provide the following information.

1. The entity name that was associated with your prior provisional approval.
2. The number(s) of the license application.

Do not Send any payments for the provisional license fees.

As a former employee of the government, I can confirm we hear almost always when we make mistakes. Today, I wanted to thank Commission for getting things right. The update is an important step in determining a fair and acceptable path forward for the affected applicants. It is important to note, however, that this isn’t the final step. If applicants are permitted to rectify their expired licenses by payment, they will need to update their application documentation. This is especially true if the provisional approval date back several years.
