Four hemp companies filed a lawsuit against Governor Kay Ivey and Attorney General Steve Marshall following the new HB445 law.
The HB445 law bans smokable hemp products and high-potency gummies, criminalizing possession or sale of certain synthetic THC products in the state of Alabama.
Mellow Fellow Fun, Tasty Haze, The Humble Hemp Shack, and Seedless Green filed a lawsuit on June 26 against this new law, and they are seeking an emergency temporary restraining order to prevent the enforcement of the law on July 1.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency has already shut down nine smoke and vape stores for selling illegal marijuana products across five cities since the Alabama Legislature passed HB445 and Gov. Ivey signed it into law in May 2025.
