NEW (scoop): Per sources, a small corporate MSO lobbying group has formed on Beacon Hill (with no name) that intends to hijack ongoing discussions about reforming the Massachusetts CCC in order to decommission the agency entirely (and, in turn, put the industry under the sole control of the State Treasurer via the existing alcohol control board).

This plan will entail, I am told, leveraging ongoing proposals to put the CCC under the control of a receiver in order to destroy the CCC entirely (and, in turn, enable even less oversight of corporate players in the industry than currently exists).

It is my understanding that the motive behind destroying the CCC relates to a number of large companies in the state selling dangerous products to consumers for years (by way of manipulated total yeast and mold testing) and, in turn, there is a concern within the leadership of some MSO’s that staff within the CCC will not “look the other way” when that scandal comes to the forefront of public discussion.
