New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy Friday is appointed Amelia Mapp, a medical business executiveThe wife of Plainfield mayor Adrian Mapp is to Replace an outgoing member The state Cannabis Regulatory Commission.

Mapp will replace Charles Barker who is leaving the agency after serving as a commissioner since 2021. Barker was known for his criticism of the Murphy administration’s efforts to promote social justice in the cannabis industry and the role that large corporations played in the state’s marijuana trade.

The influential Rev. Charles Boyer, pastor at Greater Mount Zion AME Church, Trenton, and co-founder of Salvation and Social Justice told the Globe he is “very disappointed” that the Commission lacks the perspective of Black men, the largest demographic affected by cannabis prohibition.

Boyer told The Globe that “this is a good example of why progressives are losing Black men’s support.”

Leo Bridgewater, a cannabis activist, told NJ.com the installation of Mapp over Barker is “wrong” and called the move ‘Trenton Statehouse trivial.
