[PRESS RELEASE] â HARTFORD, Conn., June 3, 2025 â The Goods THC, a minority woman-owned and family-led cannabis cultivation company, has officially completed the development of its 32,000-square-foot, micro-cultivation facility at 275â287 Homestead Ave. in Hartfordâs Upper Albany neighborhood. The company anticipates its first product launch in late July or early August 2025.
The facility features 10,000 square feet of dedicated grow space spread across seven state-of-the-art, climate-controlled flowering roomsâthe maximum canopy permitted under Connecticutâs micro-cultivation license. Located in the historic Hartford Specialty Machinery Co. building, the 80,790-square-foot industrial site was acquired in December 2022 by Eros I LLC for $1.7 million. The acquisition was driven by a clear mission: to establish a world-class cannabis cultivation operation in a community historically impacted by decades of punitive drug enforcement.
The Goods THC is one of the first social equity applicants licensed by the Connecticut Social Equity Council and has received full cultivation permitting from the Department of Consumer Protection.
The company is led by Gloribel Diaz, a Hartford native and longtime advocate for justice and equity. As a victim and survivor of the war on drugs, Diaz has experienced firsthand the lasting harm inflicted on communities like Upper Albany. That experience is the foundation of her commitment to bringing healing, opportunity and ownership back to the neighborhoods that were once targeted and left behind.
âThis isnât just a cannabis business; itâs a homegrown movement,â Diaz said. âWe chose to build in Hartford because this is our community. Weâre creating opportunities for local residents, launching premium products, and working with nationally recognized brands, all while staying true to the purpose of cannabis reform: justice and reinvestment.â
Strategic Partnerships and Growth Plans
The Goods THC holds exclusive cultivation rights in Connecticut for two nationally recognized brands: Cookies and Mike Tysonâs Tyson 2.0. The company is also in advanced negotiations with two additional nationally recognized brands. Simultaneously, The Goods is cultivating its own proprietary lineâThe Goodsâfeaturing distinct, in-house strains explicitly tailored for the Connecticut market.
The company has hired Alex Fernandez as head grower to lead its cultivation efforts. Fernandez brings decades of elite cultivation experience, having developed award-winning strains under the connoisseur label in California, Puerto Rico, Colombia and Michigan. The Goods has also secured a strategic collaboration with Preferred Gardens, one of Californiaâs most respected and innovative cannabis cultivators.
The Goods THC is actively expanding its operations with the launch of a dedicated manufacturing wing for value-added products, including concentrates, edibles and infused pre-rolls. This strategic move further solidifies the companyâs position as a vertically integrated leader in Connecticutâs cannabis market.
Economic and Community Impact
- Job Creation: The facility will employ 20â30 Hartford-area residents, with a focus on hiring from social equity backgrounds through a formal workforce development program.
- Community Reinvestment: The Goods THC is committed to job training, education and reinvestment in Hartfordâs Upper Albany neighborhood.
- Statewide Product Availability: As Connecticut dispensaries are required to source from in-state cultivators, The Goods THC will help supply high-quality, homegrown cannabis to consumers across the state.
