The Special Court of Appeal has upheld the First Instance decision for the convicted group of the drug laboratory in Frakull, Fier, where 485 kilograms of cocaine were found and seized.
The decision issued by the GJKKO in June of this year was appealed by Enxhi Ferhati, Bledar Matoshi, Nikolin Gjolena, Viktor Çervanaku, Denilson Çervanaku, Zenel Çervanaku, Klajdi Vrioni, Redion Meshi and Marildo Rona.
The appeal upheld the 89-year prison sentence for the 10 members of the cocaine laboratory group in Frakull, Fier. The sentences given were reduced to a sentence of 89 years. Julian Malaj, who was sentenced to 2 years in prison by the First Instance Court, was released from prison due to the length of time he had been in pre-trial detention.
The cocaine was hidden among artificial “organic fertilizer”, packaged and loaded into a container, which was transported from Colombia via the Port of Piraeus in Greece, towards the Port of Bar, in Montenegro.
Then, by land, the cargo entered Albania on 19.09.2022 and, after being cleared in Tirana, was transported to the village of Frakull e Madhe, in Fier, where the narcotics were seized by the judicial police.
The apartment where the cocaine laboratory was discovered was owned by the former mayor of Farkulli, Viktor Cervanakut, who will serve 10 years in prison following the summary trial.
