The California Cannabis Awards ā€” now an annual event at the California State Fair ā€” is adding new product categories this year for blunts, hash, and cannabis-infused chocolates.

Full story after the jump.

The California State Fair, coming July 11-27, 2025, will allow on-site cannabis consumption and is set to host the California Cannabis Awards once again this year. The competition-style event is designed to exhibit and recognize the stateā€™s top cannabis producers and product manufacturers. Fairgoers aged 21+ will be able to access the cannabis exhibitĀ  ā€” and purchase and consume cannabis products on-site ā€” throughout the fairā€™s duration.

The organizers noted in a press release that this yearā€™s event will include new awards to better recognize the marketā€™s product diversity, adding product categories for blunts, hash, and cannabis-infused chocolates. Submissions for the competition opened March 1.

ā€œFor more than 170 years the California State Fair has had a long-standing tradition of celebrating the best of the Golden State, especially those who epitomize the stateā€™s agricultural excellence. Since welcoming cannabis to the Fair, weā€™ve witnessed firsthand the pride and dedication of Californiaā€™s cannabis cultivators, who are crafting some of the best products, not just in the state, but in the entire industry.ā€ ā€” Tom Martinez, CEO of the California State Fair, in a press release

Organizers have also partnered with the California cannabis brand Embarc once again for integrated, on-site cannabis sales following the Fairā€™s successful partnership with the company last year.

ā€œLast year, we made history by integrating cannabis sales and consumption into the State Fair, and we are thrilled to return in 2025,ā€ Embarc co-founder Lauren Carpenter said in the release. ā€œThrough an immersive educational experience, weā€™re shining a light on the cannabis brands reflecting and shaping cannabis culture in California and beyond.ā€
