Malta will ban all HHC products from the market, including gummy teddy bears, brownies and lollipops.

Rebecca Buttigieg, Equality Parliamentary Secretary, said in a new interview with Lovin Malta that she is concerned about the accessibility of these products to children. These products can be purchased at multiple stores and even through food delivery platforms.

“They come in a very colourful packaging, and are sold as gummy teddy bears or lollipops,” said she.

Buttigieg stated that the Authority for the Responsible Use of Cannabis created a committee which included the police, Customs and the Superintendence of Public Health as well as some academics to study the situation.

After analyzing the local market, and following the guidelines of the EU Drug Agency, they recommended an import and sale ban on all HHC products.

Buttigieg also said that a political agreement had been reached which means that such products will be soon banned in Malta.
