Home Depot, which is the sixth largest employer in the U.S. will stop all pre-employment drug tests for new employees in September.

Home Depot plans to update its employee drug-testing policies in September, removing cannabis screenings and stopping pre-employment drug tests for most new employees. Marijuana Moment reports.
Reddit was the first social media platform where the policy change was discussed publicly. r/HomeDepot Online forum — a “hangout” for Home Depot Associates — reported that they learned of the impending change from their managers. The company confirmed the policy change in a memo to its human resources department.
The memo stated that Home Depot will no longer conduct pre-employment drug tests for “external candidates with contingent offers” in Asset Protection and Corporate Security.
Home Depot, the sixth-largest U.S. employer, was not the only major job creator to rethink its cannabis drug screening policy. Amazon, the second largest employer in the U.S., announced that it would begin screening cannabis drug users by 2021. Stop drug screening Cannabis. Joe Biden, the Democratic president, called on his administration in 2009 to move cannabis from Schedule I (CSA) to Schedule III (CSA). The move wouldn’t federally legalize marijuana, but it would reduce restrictions on cannabis, improve access for research and provide much-needed tax relief for state-legal industries.
The Drug Enforcement Administration is a federal agency that deals with the drug enforcement. This week It has scheduled an hearing for the rescheduling of action for December 2.
