Ohio Cannabis Regulators Issue $212,500 Fines for Advertising Infractions – Ganjapreneur (19459000)

Last week, Ohio cannabis regulators issued fines of $212,500 total to five cannabis companies. These included advertising violations such as improper signage and offering food and drinks from an ice-cream truck.

The Ohio Division of Cannabis Control, (DCC), last week fined five licensed cannabis companies a total of $212,500 for allegedly violating advertising regulations. Cleveland.com reports. Reports.

In July, regulators set strict advertising rules For the launch of the industry, the regulators prohibited ribbon cuttings, celebratory décor, and product displays outside dispensaries. Regulators also banned on-site consumption, food samples, music, or food trucks outside dispensaries.

Greenleaf Apothecaries, which has stores in Akron Canton Cleveland Columbus and Wickliffe, received the highest penalty, including separate fines between $150,000 and $12,000. Associated Press reports. The company said that it takes the advertising restrictions very seriously and hopes to resolve the issue with the state.

Ohio voters approved adult-use cannabis in November, and many dispensaries began offering adult-use products. Last month DCC rules are followed.

A spokesperson for Gov. Mike DeWine (R), the governor, said recently that he has no immediate plans to pardon Ohioans for low-level cannabis crimes despite the voters having approved reforms.
