The Cannabis Regulatory Agency (CRA) will no longer approve virtual transfer requests solely for the purpose of correcting package inventory quantities.

Previously, the CRA approved virtual transfers that allowed a receiving licensee to virtually return a package to the producer so the producer could correct package quantity discrepancies through a package adjustment. Effective immediately, once a package is accepted into inventory, the receiving licensee assumes responsibility for the package and any quantity discrepancies associated with it.

Any quantity discrepancies must be resolved by the receiving licensee using the package adjustment functionality in Metrc. The receiving licensee should also notify the producer if the discrepancy impacts the source package. Licensees may also choose to physically return the package to the producer, when appropriate.

The CRA may approve virtual transfer requests for the following circumstances:

• A package was physically transferred but was not included on the Metrc manifest
• A package was included on the Metrc manifest but was not physically transferred
• A package was assigned the incorrect item by the producer
• The expiration date entered in Metrc is incorrect, but the date on the package label is correct
• A package was incorrectly flagged, or not flagged, as a Trade Sample in Metrc

The CRA may review and approve requests for other circumstances on a case-by-case basis. However, meeting one of the criteria above does not guarantee approval, and requests may still be denied due to extenuating circumstances.

All virtual transfer requests must be submitted to Metrc Support through the Metrc Help Portal.
