The crackdown on hemp products proposed by California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s (D) emergency rules took effect this week, after officials approved them. Early this month.

The new rules that took effect on Monday, September 23 require that all hemp-derived cannabinoid product sold in the state contain “no detectable total THC”. They can only be sold by individuals 21 years of age or older. The rules also limit the amount of product to five servings.

The governor’s office stated that the ban would prevent children from being exposed to intoxicating substances in the state.
