James Sullivan McNealy was sentenced to 21-years in prison as a Habitual Felony offender in each of the four cases. In each case he was found guilty of Sale/Delivery Cocaine within 1,000 feet of Parks. The sentences must be served simultaneously.

McNealy’s sentence was based on an open plea in the cases. This is not a guilty plea. Each defendant can plead directly to the court and waive their right to a trial by jury.

In 2023, Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit made undercover purchases from the defendant. McNealy (also known as “Lil Man”) sold crack cocaine on a wooded area near a Punta Gorda store. The store is located near a park.

The defendant would conceal crack rocks in aluminum foil, cigarette paper or vials and sell them out of the vial. All drug sales took place while the defendant was being monitored by deputies.
