The Bangkok Post reports

More than 1.3 tonnes dry goods were seized by customs officials cannabis Laem Chabang Port, Laem Chabang, Thailand.

Direk Khacharak is the director of the Laem Chabang Port Customs Office. He said that based on information received from international agencies, officers inspected two suspicious shipments at the port on Sept. 11 and 16.

According to their export documents the goods were to ship to the United Kingdom. The first shipment was described as three pallets worth of rubber tiles for gyms, and the second shipment was said to contain four pallets worth of cloth gloves.

Customs officers found that the first shipment consisted of 153.3 kilogrammes worth 5 million Baht of cannabis buds, while the second shipment contained 1.3 tonnes worth 20 million Baht of buds.

Mr Direk stated that it was estimated that the cannabis products would be worth 100 million bahts in the UK.

The Customs Act BE2560 (2017) charges those responsible for the shipments with providing false information to circumvent restrictions.
