MENDOCINO CO. MENDOCINO CO., 9/10/24 – The Mendocino County Board of Supervisors unanimously voted Tuesday not to change the current cannabis density permitted in Mendocino County as per code section 10A.17.070 (D).

The proposal to reinterpret this ordinance, led by the General Government Committee As well as County Counsel, would have amended ordinance 10A.17.070(D) to increase allowed size of cannabis cultivation sites within certain zones. If the board had adopted this proposal, a grower would be able to technically double the size commercial cannabis cultivation in a single parcel.

Glenn McGourty, the First District Supervisor, said at the meeting that he has spoken to many citizens who are against increasing the density. “Ninety-percent of the constituents that I’ve spoken to want to keep it to 10,000 square feet,” Supervisor McGourty said. “The overwhelming opposition is against expanding the size of the plant.”
