Niklas Kouparanis said in a statement that the survey results show the “immensity of potential and growth room of the rapidly expanding medical marijuana industry of Germany following the implementation of Cannabis Act on April 1st, 2024 which rescheduled Cannabis as a nonnarcotic.”

Kouparanis stated that “Patients do not need to rely on illicit markets and should also not be pushed that way.”

The survey also found that a third of consumers had been diagnosed by a qualified medical condition, and 21.2% already spoke to a physician about medical cannabis but the doctor didn’t prescribe it to them as a form of treatment. More than a quarter (25.2%) of respondents said that doctors could not help them with their health issues, while only 9.2 percent had “no problem” finding a qualified doctor to support their medical cannabis therapy.

Dr. Julian Wichmann M.D. Co-Founder of Bloomwell Group, and CEO of Bloomwell noted that “findings underscored the need for medical marijuana to be treated as an equal with other modern medical treatments.”

Wichmann added, “Medical cannabis is still taboo for too many German doctors.” “Education on cannabis medical treatment is necessary, not only for patients but also for doctors, in order to normalize the use and dispel outdated stereotypes.”
