A Thai woman has been arrested at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos for allegedly attempting to smuggle illicit drugs out of Nigeria. Naija247news reports that the suspect was apprehended by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) during a routine check on outbound passengers.

According to Naija247news, the suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed, was found in possession of a substance suspected to be cocaine, concealed in her luggage. The NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, confirmed the arrest, stating that the suspect was attempting to board a flight to Asia when she was intercepted.

Naija247news gathered that the illicit drugs, weighing approximately 2.5 kilograms, were carefully hidden in false compartments of the suspect’s suitcase. “Our officers acted on intelligence and conducted a thorough search, which led to the discovery of the concealed drugs,” Babafemi said.
