Timothy Neal Beckham, a criminal defense attorney and former chief public defender in Garland County, was arrested Wednesday and charged with several felony drug counts, including possession with intent to distribute and simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms.
Details are currently sparse, as the case is not available in CourtConnect as of this writing. According to the Garland County Jail website, Beckham was booked into the jail shortly after 4 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon. The 18th Judicial District East Drug Task Force — a multi-agency task force that includes investigators from the Hot Springs Police Department, Garland County Sheriff’s Department, Arkansas State Police and Homeland Security Investigations — made the arrest.

Among Beckham’s 18 charges are three counts of delivery of methamphetamine or cocaine, seven counts of possession with intent to deliver, two counts of using another person’s property to facilitate a crime, maintaining a drug premises and simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms. That last charge resulted in Beckham being held without bond. A cumulative bond of $112,500 was imposed for the remaining 17 charges.
The Garland County website lists Beckham as the county’s chief public defender. A criminal defense attorney familiar with Beckham, however, says Beckham left that position some time last year. Beckham also maintains a Facebook page for the Law Office of Timothy Beckham, which appears to have launched in July 2025.
UPDATE: The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, via the Hot Springs Sentinel-Record, has additional details about the arrest. According to the paper, Beckham was arrested along with an accomplice after Drug Task Force officers executed search warrants at both Beckham’s home and his law office. As for what law enforcement officials found during those searches:
An unlabeled pill bottle with 47 small, round pills, not marked, was found in the kitchen cabinet, and another baggie with 1 gram of meth was found inside the pocket of a pair of blue jeans, authorities said. A glass plate with 8.6 grams of meth was found along with more baggies of meth found in a black purse on the floor near the bed, authorities said. […]
A cigarette box with 2 grams of cocaine was also found along with a package of Kratom and various vials of liquid controlled substances, authorities said.
