The full story is below the jump.

According to a Mason-Dixon Polling & Strategy study, only one in seven Minnesota voters consumed cannabis or hemp-derived THC in the past month. MPR News Only 14% of respondents reported that they had used THC products in the last month, despite cannabis reforms coming into effect in August 2023, which will allow residents aged 21 and older to possess, consume and cultivate cannabis.

State regulators are still promulgating rules allowing adult sales and other operations in the industry.

The survey also revealed that 61% of respondents support federal legalization of marijuana, while 34% are opposed and 5% are unsure.

According to the survey, the same percentage of men and women consumed cannabis within the last month, at 13% and 15 %, respectively. Democrats and independents each reported consuming a cannabis-related product in the past month. Republicans, on the other hand, only reported 6%. In comparison to older voters, more younger voters (19%) reported having consumed cannabis within the past month: 17% of 35-49 year olds; 13% of 50-64 year olds; and 9% for 65-plus-year-olds. According to the survey, people with (13%) or without (15%) a college degree also consumed cannabis at similar rates in the past month. Black, Indigenous and people of colour consumed cannabis at a higher rate (17%) compared to their White counterparts (14%), according to the survey. However, the survey notes that the differences between race and college education are “not statistically significant.”

The survey includes 800 likely voters from September 16 to 18 with a sampling error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
