Cannabis reformers have contributed more than $100 million to an adult-use ballot initiative in Florida, making it the most well-funded legalization proposal in U.S. History.

Smart & Safe FloridaThe Florida Division of Elections reports that on September 13, Trulieve, a medical cannabis operator based in Tallahassee, donated an additional $5 million to the campaign.

Trulieve has contributed over $92.7 million to the adult-use legalization initiative since it began in late 2022. This is the main financial force behind the measure that was approved by the Supreme Court of the State. Early this year Voters will be asked to vote on November 5.

Other major contributors to the pro legalization campaign include fellow Florida medical marijuana operators Verano ($3.5M), Curaleaf ($3M), Ayr Well-being ($510,000), Green Thumb Industries $500,000), Cresco Labs $403,236, and INSA ($244,000).

The bipartisan senate pair said that by regulating and testing an adult-use marijuana market, not only would it provide safe products to consumers, but also funding to police and schools.

The $101 million in campaign contributions has funded a number of TV advertisements, including this one.

If voters in Florida reach the 60% supermajority needed in November, Florida would become the 25th US state to legalize cannabis for adult use.
